This haversack is patterned after those made by the Potter firm in New York City during the war. The bag is completely handsewn, and unlike most haversacks, is actually made from one piece that has the button corners folded inwards and stitched down to create a square bottom. The interior bag is also handsewn, while the strap is machine sewn but attached by hand. The black leather straps are attached with copper rivets.
