Unlike enlisted men, officers were not issued any of their clothing or equipment. Because of this, there was a wide array of styles of haversacks carried by officers North and South. One of the most common materials used, copied after the enlisted haversacks, was painted cloth.

Our reproduction painted cloth officer's haversack is very luxurious and spacious when compared to enlisted haversacks. Made from cotton drill, this bag has an interior lining of drill as well as a central dividing piece to keep your personal or official items seperate from dirty mess gear, and a solid strap that has a diamond pattern stitched from end to end. The divider also has a cotton pocket that is divided into several comparments to store your utencils, writing impliments, mirror, or whatever you may need. On the front body of the bag, there is a large exterior pocket that is big enough to hold you notebook or pocket Casey's or Hardee's manual. This pocket is usually closed with a small brass eagle button, but we can substitute this for a state or other button by request. Just let us know at checkout.

As seen in the images, we can also do some stenciling on the bag by request. Lettering is $2 per letter. If you wish to have your name or a slogan painted onto your new officer's haversack, please contact us before ordering and let us know what you would like painted onto it so we can generate a customized invoice for your new haversack.
