Sometimes one of the most challenging thing a soldier or living historian can do is keep themselves and their belongings dry. There can be little more demoralizing than reaching for your coffee, pipe tobacco, or sweet treat from a sutler, only to find that it has become thoroughly soaked through! One solution Civil War soldiers favored was to buy or request from home painted cloth pouches they could use to store their perishable possesions in. Our painted cloth pouch is made from cotton drill with a twill cotton tape drawstring, and is painted with the same paint as our haversacks. We are confident this little pouch will help keep whatever you need to put in it dry!
