One of the more unique of imported items the South bought during the war were these Isaac Campbell & Co. haversacks. There were several contracts for these haversacks from both the government purchasers and by state governments, especially South Carolina. The bags are made from cotton duck canvas and are completely machine sewn, with hand sewn leather closure straps and sling attachments. The strap is made from a durable cotton webbing.
