In order to help supply the rapidly growing U.S. Army, the government turned to civilian contractors to make up the shortcomings of government manufacturies. One of the items ordered in the largest quantities was the issue shirt. While these shirts were made off the same basic pattern as the handsewn domet flannel shirts, they differed quite a bit in being mostly machine sewn, hand front plackets, a chest pocket, and cut away collar. Our reproduction contract shirt can be made in tan, gray, or red wool flannel.
